Of console launches and easter bunnies

Let’s get this out of the way: after 7 months, we can say that the PC launch of Redout went well. We’re happy with the sales volume, critics reception, players reaction and community – head over our forums and our Discord channel, plus there’s a Steam group organizing weekly events!

But we didn’t forget you, dear Xbox / Playstation / Nintendo players: this is for you 🙂

“So when? WHEN?”

You know we’ve been cautious in announcing release dates, after that initial period when we kept promising “next month”. We are maintaining the same meter of judgment here, so we’ll hold announcements until we’re 100% certain – which by the way will happen soon™.

“Yeah yeah but it’s been forever, are you stuck or something?”

Definitely not!

Those who played Redout on PC know how dedicated we were in supporting the game, adding new content and releasing whatever we could achieve in reasonable time – cockpit view, a whole new world, soundtrack, artbook, and more will come. All this had a little impact on console porting: less allocated time, more assets, regression bugs, more optimisation work. But that’s a tradeoff we accepted and if we could o back, we would do exactly the same thing. PC gamers got more stuff early, console gamers will get a polished game with the same content. Everyone wins.

“Why can you preorder the game if you don’t even have a launch date?”

That’s right, you can already preorder physical copies of Redout for Xbox One, PS4 and Switch.

That’s because for 66% of these platforms we are wrapping up the final testing phase, so we are confident we can move on to printing and shipping in a few weeks – again, we’re not announcing a date here. Suffice to say, we are not too far from printing those physical copies.

“Preorders are evil!”

Sometimes, but this is not the case. Head over to our Steam page and try the demo. If you can’t do that, there’s a plethora of excellent Let’s Play videos and reviews you can look over for an informed purchase.

In all honesty, I can’t refrain from recommending this, this and this. And this too.

“So should we just celebrate Easter and wait?”

Celebrating Easter or not is up to you: we will certainly take a couple of days to reunite with our families, or enjoy the first days of the year that can be spent outside. As soon as Tuesday, though, we will be back at our desks. And bringing you Redout on consoles will be the top priority, as it has been for the past 2 months.

Redout Eggs

Take care!

What will the framerate and resolution be for the Nintendo Switch version? Thanks.

Is there a chance to see Redout on PlayStation VR? I’m a big fan of futuristic racing game, I dream of having one in VR.. ^^ Thanks

I hope the extra time put towards porting the game to consoles will mean no big ass +1GB update on day one… Hate the fact that disc have basically become update launchers nowadays.

Having bought Redout during the Steam Summer sale, and the Neptune, V.E.R.T.E.X. and Mars DLC afterwards, one thing became apparent to me as I play this game… I want to play this game all the time. So, today, I pre-ordered the PS4 version so I can play it in bed (my wife will not let me put a gaming PC in the bedroom because of the noise & heat).

Looking forward to the end of August. Redout is the best AG racer I’ve ever played.

I cannot wait this to come to my Xbox… I have preordered the enhanced edition. What is the difference with the normal version? Thanks!

  • Gabriel says:

Was on the fence about getting this on Xbox, but the reviews on Xbox store complaining about the frame rate drops have put me off. Are you doing something to fix this on a future update or not? Thanks.

What is the frame rate and resolution for the Xbox One version?

  • Zilu Zhou says:

When can we expect Switch version available in U.K.? I’ve been dying to get it for my switch. US has a release date of 24th Oct, can I assume it’s the same for the UK? And also, what is the frame rate on the switch? 30 or 60?

    Many thanks
    Zilu

  • Zilu Zhou says:

Hi, when can we expect a Nintendo Switch version of the game? I was hoping to get it the same time as PS4 and Xbox version, obviously that wasn’t the case. And can you please advise if the frame rate will be 60 fps on the switch?

    Many thanks

Mars Update arrive for Xbox One?

I cannot understand the reason why RedOut it’s not on GOG catalog but just on steam’s one. Are you guys fans of software protection junks & co?
I love GOG so much, please publish your games on that platform too!

    • Valerio Di Donato says:

We love GOG too, but they don’t love us. Our request has been pending for the last year now.

      • Dante says:

Hi Valerio, thanks for yotur reply: I’ll ask them to explain why your awesome product is not on the catalog and I will make a petition on the forum to accept to distribute it too, I hope both of you will reach an agreement. I can’t understand the reasons behind this delay since when I contact them for support or something else they usually answer in 24h. I hope this situation will ends for the better.

      • Waldschatten says:

        Oh, no they didn’t!

/me heads to GOG to pester them about releasing this there.

I hate Steam, but I’m almost to the point of buying this there because I’m sick of waiting for it to come to GOG…

So, if our campaign of pestering works, will you be doing GOG Connect so we can just buy it on Steam and then get a replacement if it ever goes live on GOG?

Any new info on the Switch version?

  • RJ says:

    Hey guys,

Can you have a look at your latest patch for Xbox one x, please? It looks beautiful but it also looks like the dynamic scaler is not kicking in! There are severe slowdowns in places. Thx!

  • PIroro says:

Do you still plan to release Switch version of Redout or does it already canceled?

Hello 34BigThings! Have bought Redout: Lightspeed Edition game a few days ago and try to play it on my Xbox One console. Game crashes and wipes me out to Xbox dashboard each race with many racers (even if these racers are bots). It happens both in quick race and campaign mode, on a final lap almost near the finish. Possibly you have any solution to fix that issue?
